Trains: There are two train stations in Wakefield, Kirkgate and Westgate.
Westgate is in the center of town, and is a good 35-40 minute walk. It’s the most convenient station for Doncaster and Leeds. A taxi will set you back around £4.50 with Ace Taxi’s Wakefield (01924 299999).
Kirkgate is nearest to the stadium, but still a good 1.5mile / 25 minute walk. It’s convenient for Barnsley, Castleford and Huddersfield.
Parking: For drivers, the closest car-parks are in town. Therefore, it’s every man for himself, as you try and park on the streets. The good news is it’s on the outskirts of a housing estate, so as long as you’re not blocking driveways or parked over cones, you’re safe enough parking on the streets. For car-parks, here are your options.
The Ruddy Duck: http://www.ruddyduckpubwakefield.co.uk The Ruddy Duck is a fantastic new 241 pub situated on the A61 Barnsley Road and is accessed from Bridge Street. They offer 241 on all our main courses and specials board ensuring that you have a great range of choice all day everyday. Offering a wide range of real ales, wines from around the world and a fantastic collection of draught lager. The patio area is delightful and perfect for a drink or to dine al fresco on a warm, sunny day watching the boats go by. Inside they offer a children’s play area making for an ideal venue for all the family. Full table service is provided so you can relax and enjoy your dining experience. Also have full disabled access and nothing is too much trouble for the friendly waiting staff.
Conservative Club (Address): The best pint by far is at the Conservative Club situated behind the North Stand and just off Doncaster Road. There’s a friendly atmosphere with plenty of drinks selections. Kids are welcome and they have a large beer garden to chat and have a bit of banter before the game.
The Ground: Pukka Pies are now the official supplier of match-day food at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium, so best to eat in the stadium and support the club with all takings going back to the Wildcats.
