Featherstone Rovers Head Coach Jon Sharp is looking forward to our final pre-season match against 2015 treble winning side Leeds Rhinos on Sunday (KO 3pm) before his team commence their 2016 Kingstone Press Championship campaign.
Jon Sharp said “I’m looking for improvement on Sunday after our performance against Hunslet Hawks last weekend. I was disappointed with some aspects of our play and to be honest we looked a bit disjointed. You could tell that some of our combinations were playing for the first time so in an attacking sense, we looked a bit scratchy.
“On a positive note, we defended well and improved since the Wakefield game which was something I was particularly looking for. We put ourselves under a lot of pressure due to number of mistakes we were making and the players defended well for long periods.
“Some players played a bit longer than anticipated and were suffering from fatigue but they dug deep. The blokes are still in pre-season and training exceptionally hard, on Friday evening they were doing extra weights for example so it’s a tough period for them.
“I was particularly in impressed with Kyran Johnson, Craven showed ability in his kicking game and I thought Jamie Cording had one of his best performances in a Rovers shirt.”
Admission on Sunday is £14 adults, £10 concessions and £3 juniors and tickets can be pre-purchased from the main office at the stadium (open Monday to Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday morning 10am-midday) or from the match ticket office in the main car park on Sunday from midday.
