Leeds winger Tom Briscoe will make his long awaited comeback from injury this Friday when the Rhinos take on Wigan at Headingley.
Briscoe hasn’t played for 3 and a half months since suffering a shoulder injury in the Easter Monday defeat to Wakefield and at the time had just returned from an ankle injury picked up against Widnes in round 2.
This means that Leeds will be able to field the quartet of Briscoe, Watkins, Moon and Hall for only the third time this season. The combinations and understanding that these set of players have with each other has been hugely missed this season and could prove to be a huge boost for them as they prepare to fight for their Super League status.
In other team news, Danny McGuire is still out with a foot injury which saw him miss last week’s surprise win over Hull FC. This will be the 12th game the Leeds captain has missed in 2016 due to three separate injuries. Brett Ferres is another to be left out of the squad, he also has a foot problem.
Ashton Golding has come back in to Brian McDermott’s thoughts for this week after playing for Featherstone Rovers last Sunday, but is likely to be one of the two players left out on match day.
Stevie Ward, who earlier in the year earmarked mid-July as the probable time of his return, is still not fit enough to be considered for the big game against the Warriors. The other players to miss out are Anthony Mullally, Josh Walters and Jordan Baldwinson.
Leeds 19-man squad:
Tom Briscoe, Kallum Watkins, Joel Moon, Ryan Hall, Rob Burrow, Keith Galloway, Adam Cuthbertson, Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Carl Ablett, Liam Sutcliffe, Brett Delaney, Brad Singleton, Mitch Garbutt, Jimmy Keinhorst, Mitch Achurch, Ash Handley, Ashton Golding, Jordan Lilley, James Segeyaro.
