James Webster has told the Hull Daily Mail that the inclusion of Jamie Peacock is a ‘no gimmick’ ahead of facing London Broncos.
Earlier this week Jamie Peacock announced he was coming out of retirement and is available to play in the final 3 Super 8’s qualifers against London, Featherstone and Huddersfield
“Bowing out at the top of the tree with the treble would have been a fantastic way to finish but it shows how dedicated he is to the cause,” Webster said of Peacock.
“He’s got some other jobs to do at the club but you’re talking about a pretty special individual here. He’s well and truly equipped to do it. We might start him! But we’ll see how he pulls up in training, which he’s got through well.
“It’s not a gimmick. It would have been a tough decision for Jamie. He’s been willing to put that behind him and train without a guarantee of getting a game. He’s made that call and the club is backing him.
“Jamie has increased the intensity in training. I’m not 100 per cent sure how he’ll be used but he’s added something to us in preparation. It’ll be interesting to see him play.
“He’s intense, and this game is about mentality and getting the job done. We’re a side that’s lacked some elder statesmen at times this season and he gives us that.”
