The New Zealand Warriors have confirmed to the NZ Herald that they too have no interest in participating in the World Club Series in England in early 2017.
Cronulla will face Wigan in the World Club Challenge but many of the NRL clubs have already ruled themselves out of making the trip for the preliminary matches.
Warriors CEO Jim Doyle confirmed to the New Zealand Herald on Wednesday that the Auckland club would not be participating in the event.
The Warriors desperately need a strong start to the season and travelling to the England would have been a headache for new coach Stephen Kearney.
NRL’s Auckland Nines also takes place around the same time which carries the appeal of A$500,000 ($535,000) prize money for the winning team.
