RFL supporting Tigers amidst Solomona crisis
Denny Solomona’s cross-code move to Sale Sharks is expected to be announce in the next few days after the player reportedly spent time training with the club last week. But Castleford have remained firm on their stance that the player in not for..erm, Sale, if you pardon the pun…
The Tigers are currently recieving support from the RFL about how to handle the siuation, with the Rugby Union club suggesting that no transfer fee should be needed to sign the winger.
Legal proceedings are likely at this stage, with Solomona’s management also being investigated for their actions in the saga.
McGillvary & Mantellato likely Solomona replacements
The 18th Man understands that Castleford are currently considering their options for Denny Solomona’s expected departure, and ex-Hull KR man Josh Mantellato is leading the race to fill his gap.
Mantellato was officially released by the Robins last week as the club prepares for life in the Championship, and it’s believed that the Tigers are keen to sign the Aussie. However, they face competition from the West Tigers who are also keen on the winger.
Castleford are also interested in signing international star Jermaine McGillvary should they fail to sign Mantellato. The Huddersfield man was previously linked with a move to Hull FC, but we understand Daryl Powell is a keen admirer of the England man.
