Warrington Wolves host Castleford Tigers, after their tremendous win over the Brisbane Broncos in the World Club Series, in what is surely game of the round. Highly rated Castleford come into the game after a convincing first round win over Leigh Centurions.
Warrington have named an unchanged 19, from the squad which faced Brisbane Broncos. Skipper Chris Hill is still not ready to return to action.
Castleford make just one change, Luke Million in for suspended Paul McShane. Former Warrington favourite Joel Monaghan returns to his previous club.
Warrington recorded three wins against Castleford last season, most notably 56-12 at home in round 6, although Castleford did win 34-14 at Magic Weekend.
Castleford are widely tipped as dark horses this season and both Luke Gale and Zak Hardaker are ‘Man of Steel’ contenders. Will they benefit from a week off though, or would they prefer to be playing games at this stage of the season?
Daryl Clark made over 11 meters per carry, in Warrington’s loss to the Catalan Dragons. Can Castleford contain their former hooker? He averaged over 10 meters per carry for the wolves last season and is one of the best in the world at running from dummy half – it’s a big part of Warrington’s game.
Castleford lead 26-0 at half time in their first game of the season and Warrington lead the Brisbane Broncos 20-0, early on in their game, so it could be an explosive start and high scoring game.
Warrington will be favourites, but don’t be surprised if an in form Luke Gale leads Cas to victory.
