Following a temporary pause for some, the whole of Super League returned action for their second regular round and once more, some surprises were delivered and certain players stood out.
For some clubs, priorities are an issue whereas others are still in need of a first win but for the more successful ones, below are the players who performed better than others and made it into Team of the Week for Round Two.
Fullback – Zak Hardaker
Kick-starting the Team of the Week is former Man of Steel Zak Hardaker for the Castleford Tigers.
Hardaker stood out in Castleford’s impressive away win at Warrington, helping to spoil their celebrations following their win over Brisbane Broncos the week prior.
Most certainly back with a bang, Hardaker produced a superb performance to make his mark on Super League once more.
With one try, three assists and over 200 metres with ball in hand, Hardaker effortlessly makes his way into the team of the week as fullback.
What looks to be an interesting season ahead for the Castleford Tigers and who knows, perhaps some silverware, after all, in Hardaker, they have a specialist at such an achievement.
Wingers – Joe Burgess & Greg Eden
The flyers in week two were Joe Burgess of Wigan and Greg Eden of Castleford.
It’s good to see that the Englishmen are impressing over the overseas imports and these two certainly flourished.
Both managed two tries in their matches that turned out to be a crucial contribution towards their results.
Not only that, both averaging over ten metres gained with ball in hand, meaning they relieved the work for their forward pack too in their wins.
Plenty of years ahead of them, come the World Cup, Burgess and Eden could arguably be pushing for International selection, if not easily if they retain such form they have displayed in February.
