Friday is rugby night it would seem, with 5 of the 6 fixtures taking place on the Friday night under the light. A full round of fixtures took place this week so let’s look at what Round 2 showed us!
Hull FC had the hardest time in defense tackling nearly 400 times (393) in a game to be the top tackling team of the round 2. Widnes didn’t tackle nearly as much making just 270 tackles trying to stop Wigan crossing the line, I can only think they never got near them given some of the stats coming up from that tie.
Topping the tackle bursts for the second time in a row is Huddersfield breaking through the line 32 times! The next closest were the Tigers with 29 tackle bursts.
They might not win a trophy this season but they might win this title “Most carries in a season” for the 3rd round in a row Leeds Rhinos top the chart for number of carries in a game with 195. Castleford Tigers take up another second place spot with 183 carries.
Wigan take the lowest carries in a game spot with just 134, as I said previously that game is a statistical wonder for this round!
490 meters separate the top and bottom of this most telling of statistics, Castleford Tigers make the most with 1558 metres made, Hull made the least amount of metres with just 1068. That means Castleford’s Metre’s per carry is also the highest in this round at 8.51 on average made, surprisingly it is Saints that made the least metres per carry with just 6.29 metres. They’ll have to improve or Johnny Vegas will be round with a film crew!
