The Super League finally evens itself out now with the amount of matches played but what a weekend experienced as four clubs broke off to compete in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup.
The weekend saw two clubs humbled by Championship opposition but it doesn’t stop there as the four league matches delivered some more unbelievable results!
Only another 13 players could stand out enough to earn a spot in the team so look at who performed the best from this week’s action as well as the two earlier matches in the round.
Fullback – Gareth O’Brien
Lining up at full-back is Salford Red Devils’ unsung hero Gareth O’Brien.
O’Brien finally lands a place in the team, albeit two months after playing in the round but who could forget his contribution to his side’s 30-20 win at Huddersfield in February.
The 25-year-old secured two tries in the win as well as 7/7 successful goals to tally up 22 points in a professional performance.
Further contribution, such as assisting in another try via his swift handling as well as a couple of tackle busts helped Salford remain on top throughout.
This helped keep the Giants busy all night and as a result, helped Salford kick start 2017.
Since then, he has helped turn the Red Devils into a force to be reckoned with, battling past Toronto Wolfpack in the Challenge Cup as well as climbing into fifth place.
Plenty more to follow from the upcoming talent as he aims to achieve his best ever season with the Red Devils.
