With the prestige occasion of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup final upon the rugby league world, both Hull and Wigan gear up for their fourth meeting at the national stadium.
Though both have had plenty of experience on the big stage, we take a look back at five of the best finals either club have been involved in and whether we will another enthraller this Saturday!
5) 2011 – Wigan Warriors 28-18 Leeds Rhinos
Ranked fifth was something special for Wigan Warriors against old enemies Leeds Rhinos six years ago.
Their first Cup final meeting in 16 years but it was well worth the wait for neutrals as well as Warriors as Wigan reclaimed the Cup in some style.
Wigan initially dominated the tie, running into a 16-0 lead early in the contest thanks to tries from Josh Charnley, Jeff Lima before a superb try finish by Joel Tomkins, started by brother Sam.
The Rhinos fought back to make it 16-14 courtesy of Ryan Hall, Jamie Jones-Buchanan and Carl Ablett.
Both sides then exchanged scores through second tries to both Lima and Hall before Thomas Leuluai emulated his father’s achievement of scoring on the big stage, albeit to seal the honour for the Warriors though.
A truly memorable clash between two famous titans, who have continued to produce classics over the season but one that will live long in the memory for passion, desire, flowing rugby and determination will be this one!
