Castleford have omitted fullback Zak Hardaker from their 19-man Grand Final squad because of a ‘breach of club rules’.
The Tigers broke the news of Hardaker’s exclusion in their squad announcement, stating: “Zak Hardaker is unavailable for selection due to a breach of club rules. The club will make no further comment at this point as full attention is focused on Saturday’s Grand Final.”
The ex-Featherstone Rovers, Leeds Rhinos and Penrith Panthers player, who was due to play in his fourth Grand Final, has been a key part of Castleford’s success this season, scoring 13 tries and assisting a further 18 in 30 appearances. The England international was also nominated for the Man of Steel award.
Hardaker will now miss out on taking on Leeds, who he won three Super League titles with during his time at Headingley, and has been replaced in the squad by Jy Hitchcox.
The Castleford 19-man squad in full is:
Greg Minikin, Jake Webster, Michael Shenton, Greg Eden, Luke Gale, Paul McShane, Grant Millington, Oliver Holmes, Mike McMeeken, Adam Milner, Nathan Massey, Jesse Sene-Lefao, Ben Roberts, Junior Moors, Matt Cook, Gadwin Springer, Joel Monaghan, Jy Hitchcox, Alex Foster.
